For the presidential race of 2011 the two favorites are Eduardo Duhalde and former president Nestor Carlos Kirchner.

Duhalde will run in the Justicialist Party. His opponents for the nomination in the party are Senator Adolfo Rodriguez Saa and Francisco De Narvaez. Narvaez was not born in Argentina. SO according to law he cannot be the president. A similar law is in effect in the United States where you must be born in the US to be the president. There are rumors that he will run for mayor of Buenos Aires instead.

So Duhalde predicts it will be a two person race.

Argentina Current News

Right now in Buenos Aires region a severe lightning storm has hit and warnings are being sent out in Buenos Aires and bordering regions. There it is the summer and the temperatures are about 75 to 85 degrees all day. Currently there are winds at about 8 mph and a humidity of 94%. Forecasts say friday will also have thunderstorms. This strong storm has tormented Buenos Aires but will hopefully be gone by Monday.

Dia de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos in English is the day of the dead. It occurs usually in the beginning of November and possibly later October. This holiday has absolutely nothing to do with Halloween even though the skeletons and spirits idea is similar yet the reason for these two holidays are completely different. This holiday occurs mostly in Mexico but some neighboring countries celebrate Dia de los Muertos as well. Dia de los Muertos could have been celebrated as early as 3,000 years before the Spanish arrived in the new world.

Argentina Climate and Geography

This is Lake Narhuel Huapi is a national park. The name Narhuel Huapi means Jaguar or Puma Island. The water in this lake is crystal clear. The water's average temperature is 45 degrees Fahrenheit. The lake is located in Patagonia. Trout is the fish that live in this lake. A fun fact about this lake is that this lake has Kelp Gull which is strange since it is nowhere near the ocean and it is so high in altitude.
